   WELCOME

This is a list of ongoing and repeating Tasks that our community needs done in order to create the ecovillage home of our dreams.  There are also one-time action items, some of which might be perfect for you!

[For editors: The simplest way to organize a to do list is to use PBwiki's bulleted lists.  Create your list, and when each item is complete, you can  use "DONE" to designate a completed task.  A task should have a simple, self-explanatory headline describing the action and the desired outcome, and have a link to any resources needed for completion of the task.  You can create and link to a new page for a task if needed.]

Easy Tasks for People New to Our Community

  • Contact a current member of the Organising Committee and ask them what inspires them most about our project.  Then tell them what inspires you about it!
  • Read the Purpose, Principles and Vision of the community.
  • Come to a meeting.
  • Donate money to the community.
  • Read the FAQ list.
  • Become a Member by 1) attending a meeting, 2) agreeing to uphold and enact the Purpose, Principles and Vision of the community, and 3) begin contributing £5 a month by standing order to the community bank account.  (Get the details of the bank account by contacting our Treasurer).

Short Tasks (10 - 45 minutes)

  • Edit this website.
  • Add a resource to the Resources section.
  • Contact a new member to welcome them and ask them what they need in order to get the most from their membership.
  • Work on the Design Day!
  • Familiarize yourself with the Action Items list, claim something small there and act on it.

Medium Tasks (1 - 4 hours)

  • Organise and host a social gathering (perhaps a meal) for community members.
  • Organise and host a committee meeting.
  • Add bank details and/or a donation form to the website, so that interested parties can contribute easily.  (Work with the Treasurer and the website creator on this.)
  • Claim a medium-sized action item from the Action Items list, and act on it.

Long Tasks (Project-size, taking days)

  • Write a business plan for the business you will operate when you are living in the village.
  • Take the lead in organising one of the committees.
  • Claim a project from the Action Items list, and act on it, probably with others (note: this is very like being a committee; we're not picky about what you call it).
